Chelsea captain Terry ready for Stoke game

Chelsea captain John Terry is targeting a return to action this weekend as the Blues host Stoke City in the Premier League, the Daily Mail has claimed.

Terry was expected to be out for a while longer after a knee injury but was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Birmingham City on Tuesday evening. Terry watched on as goals from Juan Mata and Raul Meireles confirmed Chelsea’s place in the FA Cup quarter-finals, where they will play Leicester City later this month.

The former England skipper has not played for his club since late January, when he featured in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup. In that time Chelsea have won only twice, this week against Birmingham and against Bolton Wanderers in late February, while drawing with Manchester United, Swansea City and Birmingham as well as losing to Everton, West Bromwich Albion and, in the Champions League, Napoli, who travel to Stamford Bridge next week in the return leg.
