Chelsea warned off Cavani and Lavezzi by Napoli

Chelsea have been warned off attempting to sign the star strikers of their Champions League opponents, Napoli pair Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi, by Aurelio de Laurentiis, the president of the Serie A side, the Daily Mail has claimed.

De Laurentiis is quoted by the newspaper as saying: “Right now everyone wants Cavani and Lavezzi but we are not looking to sell. But if some crazy guy wants to put down £100m, then, maybe.

Lavezzi and Cavani have between them netted 31 goals in all competitions for Napoli this season, with the Argentine Lavezzi on the score sheet 10 times and the Uruguayan Cavani a further 21. The 26-year-old Lavezzi arrived at Napoli from San Lorenzo in his homeland in 2007 while Cavani was formerly of Napoli’s Serie A rivals Palermo, moving to the Stadio San Paolo in 2010 having come to Italy via Danubio in his native country.

Both Lavezzi and Cavani were on target as Napoli defeated Chelsea when the sides met in the Champions League second round first leg in late February, Cavani equalising Juan Mata’s opening goal and Lavezzi recording a brace to give Napoli an advantage ahead of Wednesday’s return meeting.
