Dalglish wants Wenger charged for diving comments

Kenny Dalglish believes Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger should be charged by the FA after branding Liverpool striker Luis Suarez a diver, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

The Liverpool manager said: “I’m sure the FA will look into it and take him to task. If you can’t comment on the England manager’s position, then I’m sure he can’t comment on another player.

It was reported earlier this week that Wenger had criticised the amount of play-acting in the Premier League, pointing to Luis Suarez’s actions in winning a penalty for Liverpool against Arsenal as an example. Wenger derided what he saw as histrionics from the Uruguayan.

Dirk Kuyt took the resultant penalty only for the Dutchman’s effort to be saved by Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. Liverpool eventually lost the match 2-1 despite going ahead through a Laurent Koscielny own goal, a Robin van Persie double eradicating Liverpool’s lead. Van Persie struck in injury time after Liverpool had statistically dominated the match, recording 54% of possession, 12 shots to Arsenal’s 10 and a dozen corners without reply but the Reds failed to hold onto the lead.
