Di Matteo to be ruthless in search of Chelsea victory

The Daily Express has reported that interim Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is willing to win ugly between now and the end of the season, so long as his Chelsea side are winning.

Di Matteo’s task between now and May is to confirm Champions League football for next season via a top four Premier League finish, and the newspaper reveals Di Matteo will go “back-to-basics” to achieve that goal.

Chelsea host Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in Di Matteo’s first league game in charge of the club he played for between 1996 and 2002. Last season under Di Matteo’s compatriot Carlo Ancelotti Chelsea dispatched Stoke 2-0 in late August with goals from Florent Malouda and a Didier Drogba penalty. The victory left Chelsea on top of the embryonic Premier League table, two points clear of Arsenal having taken maximum points from their first three games of the league campaign.
