Hamsik insists Chelsea got off lightly

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik believes that Chelsea were lucky to only lose 3-1 in the Stadio San Paolo in their Champions League second round first leg, The Mirror reports.

The Slovakian playmaker was relatively quiet in the first leg as Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi wreaked havoc on the Chelsea backline. Napoli head to Stamford Bridge for Wednesday’s tie knowing that the Blues need a 2-0 win to progress on away goals and Hamsik does not want his side to become complacent. Hamsik said that he watched the Arsenal vs AC Milan game and insisted Napoli will not perform the same way as Milan did.

Hamsik said: “We’re going to Stamford Bridge to enjoy the game, to play and we’re confident of getting through. We must stay calm, work hard and sacrifice everything until the last second of the game to make sure we qualify. Chelsea were lucky in the San Paolo. We deserved another goal at least”.

Napoli warmed up for the game against Chelsea with a 6-3 rout of Cagliari and are on a run of six consecutive wins in all competitions. Lavezzi shone again for the Neapolitans and coach Walter Mazzarri rested Cavani so he could be fresh for the trip to West London. The two strikers have 24 goals between them this season and should be the biggest dangers on the night, but Hamsik did insist that there is more to Napoli than just Cavani and Lavezzi.
