Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou has praised his teammate Fernando Torres and insisted that the Spanish World Cup winner will return to his previous best, Sporting
Kalou scored the only goal of Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday evening after being played in by Torres, and the Ivory Coast winger had kind words for his colleague. Kalou said: “I’m glad he’s playing, he’s enjoying. For me, he’s still the striker he used to be and he just has to keep doing the hard work and the best is to come.”
The goal was Kalou’s fifth of the season for Chelsea and his 60th of his entire Chelsea career, dating back to the 2006-07 season after Kalou completed a move from Dutch side Feyenoord. In that time Kalou has made 243 appearances for the London club, 104 of which have come as a substitute.
The 26-year-old Kalou has featured in five of Roberto Di Matteo’s seven matches since being appointed Chelsea’s interim manager, having featured in only two Chelsea matches since December under Andre Villas-Boas, due to a combination of injury, international duty and non-selection.
