Everton booked their place in the contest with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland in a replay on Tuesday evening after drawing the original match 1-1. Liverpool had no need for a second match, dispatching Stoke City 2-1 at Anfield at the first time of asking.
Moyes is quoted as saying: “Liverpool will be favourites. They have beaten us twice this year, haven’t they? They have to go into the game as favourites, and we will go there and play.”
The Reds defeated Everton 3-0 at Anfield earlier in March through a Steven Gerrard hat-trick in a match that saw Moyes make six changes to the Everton side that had beaten Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 just days earlier.
In October Liverpool triumphed over Everton at Goodison Park, Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll scoring in a 2-0 victory. The match was marred by Jack Rodwell’s first-half sending off, with the midfielder’s red card later being rescinded.
