PSV Eindhoven winger Dries Mertens and Swansea City forward Scott Sinclair are set to reject Liverpool in favour of a different option, The
Sinclair is out of contract at the end of next season and Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is interested in signing the former Chelsea forward. Swansea have been in great form this season and Sinclair helped the club to promotion, so has committed himself to the Liberty Stadium. Dalglish is eager to improve his forward line after a goal shy season in front of goal, but Sinclair will not be joining the Reds anytime soon.
The 22 year old said: “I’m happy to be playing every week and have a manager who believes in me. The boss has brought me in and given me that chance, so my preference would be to stay. Hopefully, I can keep playing and get more goals. All the links to other clubs for our players just shows how well we are doing”.
Mertens was the second target for Dalglish after an impressive 18 goals for PSV this season and the Reds were looking to sign the 24 year old for £7.5m. Mertens is also being touted by Bayern Munich and the PSV winger is interested in a switch to the German side over going to Liverpool.
A source close to the player said: “He (Mertens) has been asking his friends about life in Germany and has been encouraged by what he has heard.”
