Liverpool target M’Vila set to leave Rennes

Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila is set to leave the French side in the summer with Liverpool one of the teams in line for his services, Sky Sports reports.

M’Vila will cost a sizeable amount of money, as Rennes look to cash in on a player who is set to be one of France’s stars at this summer’s European Championships. Liverpool face competition from a host of Premier League sides, as well as Real Madrid, and M’Vila has declared his love for the Premier League already this season. The French international had an agreement with Rennes that he would leave at the end of this season and both parties have stuck to their deal, which will see a bidding war ensue for M’Vila.

General manager Pierre Dreossi confirmed that agreement, stating that Rennes would not block a good offer if it arrived at the Route de Lorient. Despite Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti’s reluctance to sell the 21 year old, the French side will not stand in M’Vila’s way. Liverpool could be looking to bring in a top-class midfielder to replace Steven Gerrard in the long-term and Kenny Dalglish sees M’Vila as a great prospect.

Antonetti said: “Yann M’Vila won’t be a Stade Rennais player next season. It is logical that he will go. He can play for any of the top clubs in Europe and we can’t prevent him from doing that.”
