Barcelona forward Cristian Tello is expected to sign a new deal with the Spanish club and rebuff interest from Liverpool this summer, Sky
The 20 year old will be out of contract at the end of the season, but has made five appearances in the league this season and is featuring in manager Pep Guardiola’s plans. Liverpool have expressed an interest in Tello, who is also being monitored by Premier League rivals Arsenal as well as Valencia. Tello made his Champions League debut for the club on Wednesday night in a 7-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen and scored two goals in seven minutes when he was brought off the bench.
Tello’s agent Jose Maria Orobitg insists that whilst there have been calls from clubs, the 20 year old is discussing a new deal with Barcelona. Liverpool are looking to bring in young players under American owners Fenway Sports Group and director of football Damien Comolli, so saw Tello as a real coup in their plans. Orobitg insists that nothing is clear over a move yet, but the recommended move would be to stay with Barcelona.
Orobitg said: “Many European clubs are interested in the boy, but we are now in negotiations with Barcelona. There have been calls from England, Portugal, from everywhere, but still nothing is clear.”
