Comments from Roberto Mancini regarding Arsenal striker Robin van Persie have deeply angered the Gunners hierarchy, according to the Daily
Mancini earlier this week revealed his interest in signing the Arsenal captain, adding however that he believed van Persie would remain at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The Daily Mail adds that Arsene Wenger and his superiors at Ashburton Grove see Mancini’s words as an attempt to unsettle van Persie, who is entering the final year of his Arsenal contract. The Mail also reveals that Arsenal are considering lodging a formal complaint over Mancini’s declaration.
Manchester City currently have a number of former Arsenal players in their ranks, including former captain Kolo Toure as well as left-back Gael Clichy and midfielder Samir Nasri who each moved to the Etihad Stadium last summer. Other City players with Arsenal connections include Emmanuel Adebayor, the former Arsenal striker currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, and back-up goalkeeper Stuart Taylor, who began his career in North London.
