Rosicky reveals offers were made to leave Arsenal

Tomas Rosicky has confessed he considered lucrative offers from other clubs before deciding to stay at Arsenal and sign a new contract, Sky Sports reports.

The 31 year old Czech international has enjoyed a resurgence in recent weeks and was one of the key players in Arsenal’s 5-2 North London derby win over Tottenham. Rosicky signed a new deal with Arsenal on Monday and admitted it was a ‘great honour’ to continue to play under Arsene Wenger.

However, Rosicky admits that he was tempted by the lucrative wages that Chinese and Russian sides were offering him, but committed his future to the Gunners in the end. The 31 year old revealed that Arsenal gave him the freedom to choose his options and Rosicky believes that Arsenal were the better option in the end. The Czech international will be looking to book his ticket on the plane to Poland and Ukraine for the European Championships this summer and staying in North London will help.

Rosicky said: “In both cases, it was financially huge numbers, so that somehow you had to entertain it – it’s not easy. Some days I thought about it, but money is not everything. I’m glad I’ll be able to continue at Arsenal. I had given my word to the coach that I would stay much earlier.”
