Tottenham Hotspur’s delight at reaching the next round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 victory over Stevenage on Wednesday has been soured by the news defender Michael Dawson could miss the rest of the season, according to the Evening
Dawson landed awkwardly after an aerial challenge during Tottenham’s win over the League One side and the centre-back was taken to a local hospital for examination after the injury, believed to be affecting Dawson’s knee and ankle ligaments.
The England international has played only 13 times for Spurs this season, missing the entire period between the beginning of September and the end of December with an Achilles problem. Dawson returned as Spurs defeated Cheltenham in the FA Cup in early January and has featured in eight games since. The 28-year-old last season made 33 Tottenham appearances and a further three for England before this injury-disrupted campaign.
