Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt believes that fellow frontman Luis Suarez is getting back to his best after a difficult few months, The
The Uruguayan international was heavily criticised for his part in racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra and then the decision to snub Evra’s handshake at Old Trafford. Suarez sought to end speculation over his future by committing himself to Liverpool and dismissing rumours of a switch to French side Paris Saint Germain. Liverpool have backed Suarez throughout the racism ordeal and the Uruguayan is keen to pay back his club by performing week in and week out.
Kuyt insisted that he knew any side interested in Suarez would be wasting their time, because the 24 year old is settled on Merseyside. The Dutchman was on the score sheet against Queens Park Rangers last night as Liverpool went 2-0 ahead, but were pegged back to lose 3-2 and face a serious dent in their bid for Champions League qualification. Kuyt believes Suarez, who has scored 11 goals this season, will be concentrated on the club and help Liverpool towards success this season.
“I speak a lot with Luis and he has always been happy with the club, with the supporters and with his team-mates. Everyone was standing behind him during a difficult period for him here. I never had the feeling that he wasn’t anything, but happy at Liverpool. He’s said he’s more than happy to stay and hopefully he will stay here for a long time”, Kuyt said.
