Vidic on course for Man Utd return

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has revealed he is preparing himself for a summer return following his season-ending injury, manutd.com reports.

The Serbian international had a knee operation in December following cruciate knee ligament damage suffered against Basel in the Champions League. Vidic’s absence was missed at the beginning of his injury, but Jonny Evans has really stepped up for the Premier League champions and has helped them to establish a one point lead over Manchester City. United’s captain has predicted a return to training in July and believes that he will be back in action next season better than ever.

Vidic said: “It’s going well. Obviously the projection was I would be ready for the next season. I am on schedule and will hopefully start training again in July.”

Another piece of good news for Sir Alex Ferguson is the potential return of Nani to training this week, as well as defender Phil Jones returning for Monday’s game with Fulham. Nani played the last 15 minutes of the home game against Athletic Bilbao earlier this month, but missed league games against West Brom and Wolves with a training ground injury. Jones was under the weather and so ruled out of the game at Molineux, but Ferguson insists they will be back soon.
