Villas-Boas accused of causing poor Torres form

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has been accused by Fernando Torres’ former agent Antonio Sanz of causing the Spain striker’s poor form, according to ESPNsoccernet.

Sanz said: “According to Chelsea’s players, there is a bad atmosphere in the dressing room. Villas-Boas is not fulfilling Chelsea’s expectations and he’s really scared because he is really close to getting sacked.

Torres has scored four goals in 30 appearances across all competitions this season, leaving the former Liverpool striker behind Frank Lampard, Daniel Sturridge, Ramires, Juan Mata, and Didier Drogba in the club scoring charts. The £50m striker has found the net the same number of times as Chelsea captain and centre-back John Terry. Torres has failed to score in his last 21 Chelsea appearances and was left out of the Spain squad for the first time in five years ahead of the World Cup holders’ friendly with Venezuela.

Prior to joining Chelsea in January 2011, Torres had scored nine goals in 22 appearances for Liverpool, adding one more to his tally for 2010-11 after moving to Stamford Bridge. Torres scored 81 goals in 142 Liverpool games between 2007 and January 2011, and has 27 goals in 91 international appearances.
