Prior to the match at the Emirates Stadium Arsenal trailed their North London rivals by 10 points and were two goals behind within half an hour of kick-off. But goals from Bacary Sagna and Robin van Persie levelled the scores before half-time while after the break Tomas Rosicky put Arsenal ahead before a Theo Walcott double sealed the points. Wenger believes Walcott’s goals also lit a fire under Arsenal’s season.
Wenger is quoted as saying: “I believe we turned a corner that day… You will not always come back from 2-0 down but the feeling that you never give up can be sustained. I never question the attitude of this team.”
From defeating Tottenham Arsenal, who had won the two Premier League fixtures before the derby, went on to win their next four, including a record-breaking sequence of four consecutive victories in which they conceded the first goal. Arsenal are currently a point ahead of Spurs with seven league games to play.
