Jack Wilshere will not be fit in time to play at this summer’s European Championships after the Arsenal midfielder was declared unfit to feature in the rest of Arsenal’s Premier League campaign by manager Arsene Wenger, the the
Wilshere was originally injured playing for England in June when he damaged his ankle and suffered a further blow in a pre-season friendly for Arsenal in August. That injury, together with a stress fracture of the Achilles has meant Wilshere has not played for Arsenal at all this season.
It had been hoped by the Gunners’ hierarchy that Wilshere would return for the end of the season and, if he came through Arsenal’s final few games, Wilshere could have been selected as part of the England squad to travel to Poland and Ukraine this summer. But with no date for Wilshere’s return in sight Wenger has ruled out the possibility of a first club appearance before the end of the campaign, with the 20-year-old’s international chances ending also.
