Hernanes, currently with Serie A side Lazio, turned down the advances of Anzhi despite, the Mail adds, growing frustrated with life in Rome. Despite starting the majority of Lazio’s games, Hernanes has completed only a handful, routinely being substituted by Lazio Coach Edy Reja. A £16m fee was agreed between Lazio and Anzhi only for Hernanes to back out.
The 26-year-old joined Lazio from Sao Paulo in 2010 for around 11m euros. In his time in Italy Hernanes has made 66 Serie A appearances, scoring 19 goals, including eight strikes in 30 games through this campaign. Hernanes has also been capped eight times by Brazil since making his debut while still a Sao Paulo player in 2008, playing against Sweden in a match held at Wembley.
