The Mail adds that Drogba suffered a toe injury in training on Friday, while Luiz was substituted at half-time during Chelsea’s Premier League win over Aston Villa on Saturday. The centre-back was taken off after injuring his ankle ligaments. Gary Cahill was introduced in place of Luiz.
Luiz started the first-leg against his former side, won 1-0 by Chelsea through a Salomon Kalou goal, partnering John Terry in the centre of Chelsea’s defence. Drogba was an unused substitute as Roberto Di Matteo selected Fernando Torres as Chelsea’s lone striker instead. Torres was instrumental in the winning goal, setting up Kalou after being played in by Ramires.
Drogba has made 25 appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring nine goals, with four of those strikes coming in as many Champions League outings.
