Chelsea have agreed a fee with Werder Bremen over the signing of German international midfielder Marko Marin, The
The 23 year old will join the Blues in the summer after spending three seasons in Germany with Werder. Marin underwent a medical in London this week and terms are expected to be agreed within the coming days. A statement on the Chelsea website confirmed the deal, as the club look to strengthen their side ahead of next season.
The statement said: “Chelsea Football Club have today agreed to sign Marko Marin from Werder Bremen. Both clubs have agreed a fee and the 23 year old midfielder has agreed personal terms. Marin, a German international, will join Chelsea in the summer.”
Marin himself has stated that he cannot wait to play in the Premier League and is looking forward to the challenge of Chelsea. The 23 year old’s move to Stamford Bridge could see striker Romelu Lukaku travel in the opposite direction on loan, although the Blues are yet to confirm that particular deal. Lukaku has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge so far and would benefit from a spell on loan at a good European level.
Bremen director of sport Klaus Allofs has also spoken about the deal, saying: “We have always said that we would be open to talk if any of our players receives a good offer. We had good talks with the management at Chelsea, so that we were able to reach an agreement quickly. We wish Marko all the best for his new challenge.”
