Chelsea to be disappointed in quest to rearrange FA Cup semi-final

The Guardian has reported that Chelsea are likely to be disappointed in their request to have the kick-off time of their FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham Hotspur brought forward.

Chelsea have expressed concern over the match being scheduled for a 6pm start on Sunday April 15, citing not only worries over the time enabling supporters to drink more and potentially leading to trouble between the two sets of fans, but also the impact on a possible Champions League semi-final against Barcelona to be played just days later.

The report however states Chelsea have “no chance” of seeing the kick-off time changed, either to an earlier point on Sunday or to Friday evening, as had been suggested by interim manager Roberto Di Matteo.

Arrangements for the two semi-finals – with the other a Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton – were complicated by Liverpool’s reluctance to play on April 15, as it is the 23rd anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster when 96 football fans were killed at Sheffield Wednesday’s stadium.
