Guardiola admits Chelsea tactics leave him struggling for an answer

Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola has admitted that he has struggled to find a way to counter Chelsea’s expected tactics in their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday, Press Association has reported.

Guardiola said: “Everyone wants to beat Barcelona and play well against us, because we are the current holders but I am struggling to see how we are going to hurt [Chelsea] and how we are going to create chances to score goals.

Barcelona have thus far in the competition scored 33 times in their 10 matches, conceding seven, a record which compares favourably to Chelsea. The Premier League side have netted on 21 occasions and conceded nine times, leaving them as the lowest scorers of the four teams remaining.

Real Madrid have scored the same number of goals as Barcelona and conceded just one more, while Bayern Munich have outscored Chelsea by three goals and conceded one less. Bayern and Madrid have however played a game more, having already met in their semi-final first-leg, a 2-1 home victory for the German side.

As may be expected Barcelona have also recorded the highest percentage of possession, averaging 67% of the ball in their matches. Chelsea and Madrid have taken 57% and Bayern slightly less, 56%.
