Lampard wants to continue at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has spoken of his desire to stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of his career, The Mirror reports.

The 33 year old has one year left under his current deal, but after a difficult relationship with former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, there had been speculation that Lampard would leave at the end of the season. However, Lampard has preferred life this season under interim manager Roberto di Matteo and is expected to open talks with the club at the end of the campaign.

Lampard said: “I love Chelsea and, ideally, I will be here longer than just one more season. I look at people like Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs at Manchester United and see what they are still doing and I would love to do the same for Chelsea. I want to emulate them.”

With the FA Cup final this weekend against Liverpool, and a Champions League final against Bayern Munich on the horizon, Lampard has the chance to finish a difficult season with two trophies. The 33 year old has given his backing to Roberto di Matteo and will look to add more success before the end of his career. Chelsea chiefs are also keen to tie Lampard down to a new deal, which is expected to be a two-year contract.
