Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole, currently on loan at French side Lille, wants to stay with the Ligue 1 champions past the end of the season, Liverpool
Cole joined Lille on a season-long loan last summer after failing to settle at Anfield following his free transfer move from Chelsea. The Echo notes Cole signed a four-year contract at Liverpool after departing Stamford Bridge but made only nine league starts, first under Roy Hodgson and then Kenny Dalglish. It was Dalglish who allowed Cole to cross the English Channel to join Lille.
Thus far in France Cole has made 33 appearances, as well as featuring in the Champions League. Lille have this season attempted to defend their Ligue 1 crown against cash-rich Paris Saint-Germain and surprise league leaders Montpellier, with Cole helping Lille to third behind both of those clubs with six games to play.
