Liverpool have parted company with Director of Football Damien Comolli, according to the Daily
The Frenchman, who was brought in by owners Fenway Sports Group in November 2010, proved to be an instrumental figure as the Reds splashed out over £100m to sign the likes of Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Craig Bellamy and Jose Enrique. Some of the big-money players have failed to hit top form this season, with Liverpool currently sitting in eighth spot in the Premier League.
The decision was made following a meeting between Comolli and the owners, who are currently in England ahead of the FA Cup semi-final between Everton and Liverpool at Wembley on Saturday.
It remains to be seen whether principal owner John Henry decides to replace Comolli, who formally scouted players for Tottenham and Arsenal, or whether Liverpool will now perform in the transfer market without a Director of Football.
