Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has revealed he believes his side will probably lose the forthcoming derby against Manchester United, the
Speaking after City defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 to move within three points of their rivals, condemning the Midlands side to relegation in the process, Mancini said: “I probably expect us to lose to Manchester United. Their players are used to playing under pressure every year. But we don’t have any pressure as we have no chance of winning.”
Goals from Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri defeated Wolves and, after United threw away a two-goal lead against Everton to draw 4-4 at Old Trafford, City are now three points adrift of the champions with a superior goal difference. If Mancini’s side were to win the derby at the Etihad Stadium next Monday, they would go into the penultimate game of the season top of the table on goal difference.
The final rounds of fixtures of the 2011-12 season see City first travel to Newcastle United while Sir Alex Ferguson’s side host Swansea City, then on the final day of the season City are at home to Queens Park Rangers while United go to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
