Mourinho claims Chelsea cannot beat Barcelona

Jose Mourinho believes it will be impossible for Chelsea to defeat Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final between the two sides, the Daily Telegraph has reported, with the Real Madrid Coach adding that Barca are “super-favourites” for the tie.

Chelsea reached the semi-finals of the competition by virtue of a 3-1 aggregate victory over Benfica, booking their date with the holders in the process. Barcelona had earlier defeated Serie A side Milan by the same score after a 0-0 draw in Italy and a 3-1 win at the Nou Camp. But when Mourinho was asked about the chances of his current side facing his former side in the final, to be held at the home of Madrid’s semi-final opponents Bayern Munich, the Allianz Arena, Mourinho was dismissive of Chelsea’s chances.

The Telegraph quotes Mourinho as saying: “Let me be honest, I don’t think the final will be a Real Madrid/Chelsea final. It could be Bayern or Barcelona, I just don’t think it will be Real Madrid vs. Chelsea and we know why.

Mourinho managed Chelsea between 2004 and September 2007, twice winning the Premier League title while at Stamford Bridge, but never progressing past the Champions League semi-final.
