Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken with his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Harry Redknapp over the future of centre-back Steven Caulker, who is on loan at the Welsh side from the North London club, according to the
Rodgers reportedly admitted he wanted to keep Caulker at the Liberty Stadium beyond the end of this season, when the 20-year-old’s loan spell would come to an end, but Rodgers admitted the decision is one for Spurs to make, rather than Swansea. Rodgers added: “I spoke to Harry at length…[Caulker} will be going back to Tottenham for pre-season, it will then depend on whether he is seen as one who will be part of their squad.”
Caulker has helped Swansea to 11th in the table in their debut Premier League campaign, conceding only 12 goals at home in the process. The Swans have been a little more generous on their travels, letting in 27 goals, but that is still two goals fewer than third-place Arsenal have conceded on the road this season. For his part, Caulker has played 19 games for Swansea this season, having previously Bristol City last season and Yeovil Town the year before that.
