Arsenal could face a wait to discover the future of captain Robin van Persie after the BBC
It was previously thought that both Arsenal and van Persie wanted to clarify the situation before the striker left for international duty, with a gap at the end of the season, after the end of the Premier League campaign but before the start of preparations for Euro 2012, said to be the crucial time when discussions would take place.
But the BBC have said van Persie now feels this is too short a time frame to negotiate a new contract, with the period after Euro 2012 and before the start of the new season offering more time for talks. The final of Euro 2012 is on July 1, leaving around a month before the new Premier League season would begin in early August.
