Wenger impressed by Arsenal turnaround

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he has been impressed by the way in which his players have turned their season on its head, the Daily Mail has reported. A matter of months ago the Gunners were languishing in seventh, outside of the Champions League qualification places, but a strong run of form has since catapulted them to the front of the pack.

Wenger is quoted as saying: “Considering where we were before Christmas, we have improved a lot. Maybe it is the most remarkable turnaround I have seen here.” Despite beating Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park in the last game before the festive period Arsenal were fifth on Christmas Day, and had dropped two places by early February after a goalless draw with Bolton Wanderers.

The Gunners have however only lost once in the league since the tie with Bolton, going down to a 2-1 defeat by Queens Park Rangers in late March, a single blip on a run of nine wins in 10 games. That streak includes victories over Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester City.
