Abramovich refuses to give up on dream of tempting Mourinho back to Chelsea

Unperturbed by Jose Mourinho’s insistence he will remain at Real Madrid for at least another year, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to bring the Portuguese back to the club he managed between 2004 and 2007, the Daily Mail has reported.

Mourinho has just guided Madrid to a first La Liga title since 2007-08 and left the Blues under a cloud in September 2007 following a falling-out with Abramovich. The Mail however reports that Abramovich is of the belief their relationship can be repaired and that Mourinho is the man to oversee the squad rebuild the Russian is demanding.

Under Mourinho Chelsea enjoyed one of their most successful periods in history, winning the Premier League title twice, in 2004-05 and 2005-06, the FA Cup in 2006-07 and the League Cup in 2004-05 and 2006-07. Mourinho was appointed after leading Porto to an unexpected victory in the Champions League in 2003-04, replacing Claudio Ranieri who was dispensed with by Abramovich in favour of Mourinho.
