The Arsenal career of Nicklas Bendtner looks likely to be at an end after the striker admitted he was seeking fresh challenges following a year spent on loan at Sunderland, ESPN
Denmark international Bendtner joined the Black Cats in August on a season-long loan deal but with the end of the campaign on Saturday will return to Arsenal over the summer after competing for his country in Euro 2012. But 24-year-old does not see his future at the Emirates Stadium, instead suggesting a new start elsewhere would appeal, but will decide his destination after the European Championships.
He said: “I am ready for new challenges. I have heard about concrete interest from other clubs, which sound interesting, but I can’t say more than that right now…I have to talk to Arsenal first…I need something new to happen for me. Now it’s all about Euro 2012 and afterwards I can look at my club future.”
Bendtner joined Arsenal as a 17-year-old in 2005 and spent a year on loan at Birmingham City in 2006-07, scoring 13 goals while with the Midlands club. For Arsenal, Bendtner has made 155 appearances, scoring 43 goals, while this year on loan at the Stadium of Light has brought eight goals in 30 games.
