Chelsea to break the bank for Hazard

Chelsea are ready to capitalise on their Champions League success by making a big money move for Lille playmaker Eden Hazard, The Daily Mail reports.

The Belgian has attracted interest from across Europe with his displays this season and recently admitted that his future does not lie at the Stade Metropole. Manchester City and Manchester United representatives are expected to hold talks with Lille, but sources in France indicate that Hazard’s agent was in London on Saturday.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich believes that a £30m fee will be enough for the 21 year old to move to Stamford Bridge and Hazard is expected to be offered £250,000 a week on a five year deal. Chelsea will have to rival the two Manchester clubs for Hazard, who has also stated that he expects to move to Manchester for next season. Abramovich and his chief executive Ron Gourlay will have to put together an attractive package to bring the Belgian international to West London.

Another one of the Blues’ transfer targets, Luka Modric, has been touted for a move away to Tottenham, but not to Stamford Bridge. Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Modric to the Bernabeu, as well as Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder Ramires. The 25 year old has impressed this season at Stamford Bridge and Mourinho is reportedly looking to pay big to sign Ramires, who cost Chelsea £19m upon his arrival from Benfica in 2010.
