Chelsea to try again for Guardiola

Chelsea will make another offer to Pep Guardiola to tempt the now-former Barcelona Coach to Stamford Bridge, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

Guardiola led Barca for the final time on Friday evening and signed off with a 3-0 Copa del Rey victory over Athletic Bilbao, the 14th trophy won in Guardiola’s four year tenure. Pedro scored twice and Lionel Messi once to overcome the Europa League finalists and ensure Barca did not end the season empty-handed, having lost out on the league title to Real Madrid and been eliminated by Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Telegraph adds that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has attempted more than once to convince Guardiola to take over at the club since sacking Andre Villas-Boas in March, but Guardiola has always resisted, insisting he will take time away from football before deciding his next move. The newspaper also notes that there had been speculation Guardiola had met with Chelsea, but chief executive Ron Gourlay denies all contact.
