Liverpool will offer new contracts to forward Luis Suarez and centre-back pair Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger, despite not having a manager or director of football currently in place at Anfield, the
Kenny Dalglish was removed as manager earlier this week after a disappointing season that saw the Reds fall to eighth in the Premier League, while in April Damien Comolli left the position of director of football following big-money signings of players who have yet to perform. But in an effort to fend off interest in three of the club’s most highly-rated players, the Liverpool hierarchy will begin the process of re-negotiating new contracts for the trio.
The Echo adds that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Suarez while Skrtel and Agger have only two years remaining in their current deals, leaving this summer the prime time to agree extensions. The newspaper also notes that the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, believe the three players should be part of the new manager’s squad.
