The Mail adds that United offered in the region of £13m for the 26-year-old midfielder but Dortmund are standing firm, unwilling to countenance offers less than £16m. Such a transfer would represent a huge profit for the German club after signing Kagawa for 350,000 euros two years ago. United are likely to make an improved offer in the new few weeks as the player fits the desired profile for new faces at Old Trafford – relatively young and comparatively inexpensive.
Kagawa was an integral part of Dortmund’s title-winning side, helping Jurgen Klopp’s side to the trophy by an eight-point margin from Bayern Munich with 13 goals in 31 league games. Ferguson reportedly watched Kagawa during Dortmund’s 5-2 German Cup final victory over Bayern earlier in May.
