Manchester City midfielder Nasri hits out at Arsenal

Samir Nasri has hit out at figures at Arsenal who suggested he moved to Manchester City for financial reasons after winning the Premier League title this season with his new club, ESPN has reported.

Nasri left north London a year ago after rejecting the offer of a new contract, instead moving to the Etihad Stadium. The France international was criticised by people at his former club at the time for leaving Arsenal for higher wages at City, but Nasri has pointed to the Premier League winner’s medal he received on Sunday as proof he made the right decision, arguing that it is a long time since the Gunners were in his position.

He said: “People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money. I hope they are watching me now, collecting my Premier League winner’s medal. I believe they have not won a trophy for many years now.

Arsenal last won the title in 2003-04 and have not won a trophy of any kind since taking the FA Cup in 2005, while City this year claimed a first league crown since 1968. Nasri added that Arsenal should focus on their own results and ignore what he achieves with City.
