Podolski pride at joining Arsenal

New Arsenal signing Lukas Podolski has revealed his pride at playing for the Gunners after confirmation of his move to the Premier League, the Daily Mirror has reported.

The transfer, for what the newspapers describes as an undisclosed fee, will be completed after Euro 2012, at which Podolski is expected to play a full part for Germany. The deal had been rumoured for many months but was finally confirmed this week by all parties. Podolski said: “I’m proud to become an Arsenal player and am looking forward to playing my first match at the Emirates Stadium and doing my best for all Arsenal fans.

Podolski joins Arsenal from FC Koln, where he has scored 18 goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances this season. A former Bayern Munich striker, Podolski has nearly 100 international caps to his name despite being only 26, and can also play on the left wing, a position Podolski often takes for Germany. Despite regularly playing on the periphery for Die Mannschaft Podolski has 43 international goals in his 95 international appearances, and scored in Germany’s win over England at the 2010 World Cup.
