Agent: Spain wary of Croatia

Spain Coach Vicente Del Bosque is wary of Croatia strike-force according to his agent Paco Jimenez.

Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric and striker Mario Mandzukic have been earmarked as the biggest threat to Spain’s chances of topping Group C.

Three goals mean that Mandzukic is the joint top scorer with Mario Gomez at Euro 2012, having scored a brace against the Republic of Ireland before earning a point against Italy.

“Croatia are playing very well and many of their fans have come to Poland and that gives them a lift that makes them more dangerous,” Del Bosque’s assistant Paco Jimenez told the Spanish football federation (RFEF).

“They have good players like Modric and Mandzukic and in defence it has worked out well for them putting (Vedran) Corluka in central defence,” added Jimenez.

“Modric has impressed me a great deal, he is a fantastic footballer and Mandzukic is playing very well.

“He gets up well, he fights for everything and we are going to have trouble controlling him effectively.”

The match on Monday will decide who tops Group C, with Italy relying on the outcome of the match. Cesare Prandelli’s men must beat the Republic of Ireland, then hope that La Roja do anything but have end with a score draw above 2-2 with Croatia.

Jimenez will spend today collating information to provide Del Bosque and his number two Toni Grande, to plot Croatia’s downfall.

“I used to do that at Real Madrid, I currently do it for the national team and after the tournament I will retire,” he added.
