Aquilani expected to leave Liverpool

Alberto Aquilani’s unhappy Liverpool experience is expected to come to an end within the next week as Milan look to agree a fee with the Reds for the midfielder, ClubCall has reported.

Having signed the former Roma player for around £20m in 2009, Liverpool are said to be ready to sell the 27-year-old Aquilani to Milan for £3m. ClubCall add that Liverpool had originally asked for more than twice that amount, around £7m, but when Milan baulked at the sum Liverpool were faced with the prospect of having the unsettled player back on Merseyside after two years away on loan, first with Juventus and then last season at the San Siro.

New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had previously praised Aquilani and seemed to indicate he would be welcome back at Anfield for a fresh start, but ClubCall note the player himself is keen to agree a permanent return to Italy.
