Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of France midfielder Yann M’Vila after one of the player’s other suitors, Bayern Munich, dropped their interest in the Rennes star, ClubCall
M’Vila’s agent, Werner Baader, said: “We had contact with Bayern Munich. He is not the kind of player they are looking for at Bayern. They are looking for someone in this position, but they want somebody with different abilities.”
ClubCall add that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made M’Vila one of his top targets for the summer transfer window but was concerned the interest from Bayern would cause him to miss out on the 21-year-old. But with the German side now looking elsewhere, the root could be clear for Wenger.
Any transfer might have to wait until France’s participation in Euro 2012 is at an end as, even though M’Vila’s involvement has been limited due to an ankle injury picked up in a pre-competition friendly, his focus is currently on the national team. If Arsenal do move for the midfielder after the tournament, he could cost in the region of £17m.
