Arsenal have been handed an injury blow long before the new Premier League season gets underway, as France international right-back Bacary Sagna is unlikely to be fit for the start of the campaign in August, according to the
Sagna suffered a second broken leg in seven months in a match against Norwich City in May, having previously felt the same injury to the same leg against Tottenham Hotspur in October. The extent of the injury means Sagna will likely not be ready to return to action until mid-September, having already been forced to miss out on Euro 2012.
The 29-year-old joined Arsenal from Auxerre in 2007 and has gone on to make more than 150 appearances for the Gunners and has over 30 international caps to his name. The Mirror speculates that Carl Jenkinson, the young defender signed from Charlton Athletic a year ago, will deputise for Sagna until he is ready to return.
