Benzema interested in Man City move

The agent of France international striker Karim Benzema has admitted the Real Madrid player could join Manchester City this summer, according to ClubCall.

Jonathan Hope, described as “Benzema’s UK agent”, revealed he had already held discussions with an unnamed member of the City hierarchy and that they had gone well, with the Premier League champions now Benzema’s favoured destination if he leaves Madrid before the start of the new season. Hope added that Benzema has ruled out joining Manchester United.

Benzema, expected to start for France when they meet England in their opening match of Euro 2012 on Monday, is coming off the back of a successful season in Spain. Under Jose Mourinho Madrid won their first La Liga title in four years, roaring past Barcelona to claim the crown by nine points, with Benzema contributing 21 goals in 34 league games and 32 in 52 in all competitions. The 24-year-old also has 15 goals in 45 international appearances.
