Blanc joins shortlist for Tottenham manager role

Tottenham’s list in their search for a new manager seems to be growing longer and longer daily, with the latest addition being Laurent Blanc. The Mirror are reporting that those in charge at White Hart Lane have looked into the French coach’s contract situation with the French Football Federation.

The former Manchester United revealed in a press conference at Euro 2012 this week that he is open to a move away from Les Bleus:

“My intention is to carry on with the France team, but the fact remains, I have not extended my contract. If I get an exceptional offer, I could very well decide to leave for that club.”

This revelation comes just a days after former Chelsea boss, Andre Villas Boas was made a surprise favourite to take the job in North London. Along with the Portuguese coach and the Frenchman, Everton boss David Moyes and Wigan manager Roberto Martinez are supposedly in line. The Daily Mail are reporting that Daniel Levy is set to offer Martinez the chance to work in a new structure at Tottenham, where Levy and Martinez would work with Tim Sherwood and another executive to over see the transfers in a committee environment.

David Moyes has said that there is yet to be any contact from Tottenham despite reported interest. Speaking yesterday the Scot said:

“All I can say is that I have had no contact and if I had any I would have told my chairman. I hope to meet all my ambitions at Everton, but you never know in this game” before adding: “I’m ambitious and I want to try and win things and ideally I want to do that with Everton”

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan also said earlier this weekend that there has yet to be any contact from Tottenham for Martinez. Also on the radar for Spurs is former Schalke coach Raff Rangnick who has been unemployed since quitting the Bundesliga in September.
