Cardiff target Bellamy backs new Liverpool boss Rodgers

Liverpool forward Craig Bellamy has praised the appointment of Brendan Rodgers, insisting that the new Reds manager is the man to bring success back to Anfield, the Liverpool Echo has reported. However, Bellamy may not be at the club long enough to be part of it as Cardiff City prepare a new offer for their former loan player.

Bellamy spent the 2010-11 season with the Championship club on loan from Manchester City, moving to Liverpool on a free transfer in summer 2011. Cardiff were unable to finance a permanent move for the former Wales captain but with a fresh round of investment a move for Bellamy could be more feasible this summer.

The 32-year-old has a year remaining on his Liverpool contract but was often left on the sidelines under former manager Kenny Dalglish, despite scoring nine goals in the first season of his second spell at the club. Bellamy stressed that Rodgers was joining a club with many of the pieces in place for success, and insisted the former Swansea City boss was the right man for the job.
