Chelsea interested in Malaga striker

Malaga are facing a battle to keep hold of Salomon Rondon with several Premier League clubs looking into signing the striker.

The Daily Mail report that Chelsea are ready to make an offer after their scouts watched him play for Venezuela in their 2-0 lost to Chile at the weekend – although the European Champions’ valuation could be someway off of the £20 million that the La Liga club want.

Not known as a prolific goalscorer, Rondon appears to be wanted for his physical attributes. The Premier League is commonly known as a more physical competition than those on the continent, hence the interest from the division’s elite.

Signing for Malaga two seasons ago, the 22-year-old has played 67 games for the club, 10 of those as a substitute, and has scored 25 goals. He has played consistently for his country finding the net 8 times in 25 games.

The other teams scouting Rondon are Arsenal and Newcastle, both looking to strengthen their frontline after suggestions they could lose key players. Although Chelsea appear ready to bid, they are thought to be weighing up an offer in the region of £10 million.
