England vs Belgium – Match preview and team news

England today face a Belgium side that are strong on paper, in what will be their last pre-Euro 2012 friendly match before they face France in the first Group D encounter next Monday.

Belgium will likely start with a host of familiar names to viewers of the Barclays Premier League, and a couple who look set to join them in the summer. New Chelsea signing Eden Hazard, as well as Tottenham target Jan Vertonghen should start, with Everton’s Marouane Fellaini, Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen, and Fulham attacker Moussa Dembele all likely to feature. Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany is struggling with a calf injury and is likely to miss the tie.

For England, in the absence of the injured Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry, Scott Parker is certain to feature, giving him the opportunity to demonstrate his fitness ahead of the tournament. Captain Steven Gerrard will partner with him in central midfield. Danny Welbeck is set to replace Andy Carroll up-front, with Ashley Young keeping his place just behind the main striker. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are set to start on the wings. In defence, John Terry should partner Gary Cahill, with Ashley Cole at left-back, and either Phil Jones or Glen Johnson at right-back.

Kick-off: 17:15 GMT, Wembley Stadium
