Guardiola denies Bayern Munich contact as Chelsea wait

The agent of former Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola has denied there has been any contact between his client and Bayern Munich, talkSPORT has reported. Guardiola was said to be the first choice of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to become the club’s new manager, only for the Spaniard to take a year-long sabbatical.

However, interim boss Roberto Di Matteo was eventually confirmed as the full-time replacement for Andre Villas-Boas, signing a two-year deal, yet talkSPORT believe the Italian’s contract contains a clause that allows it to be broken after only 12 months, potentially clearing the way for Guardiola to take over at Stamford Bridge.

Guardiola was however linked with a switch to Munich at the end of the coming season, but his agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, insisted it was too soon to discuss what Guardiola might do next. He said: “He hasn’t spoken with a single club. It’s a waste of time, Pep doesn’t know what will happen in the spring of 2013.” Orobitg added that while there have been enquiries from half-a-dozen interested parties, Guardiola is committed to taking a year out of football and is not going to change his mind.
