Guti tells Real Madrid to forget Modric and target David Silva

Real Madrid legend Guti has claimed Luka Modric doesn’t deserve to play for Real Madrid suggesting, instead, that David Silva would be a better more suitable signing.

Reported by ESPN, the Spanish midfielder has said that Modric wouldn’t add enough to the La Liga champions, lacking the star power to succeed. He said:

“He hasn’t even been the key man for Tottenham. I don’t think he’s done enough to play for Madrid. I would go for David Silva in this position. He’s ideal for Real Madrid: young, talented with potential, and has achieved great things with Manchester city and Spain.”

This damning assessment of Luka Modric seems to be against the grain, with most of Europe’s elite feeling that any club would be lucky to have the Croatian in their ranks. Last week Chelsea defender, Branislav Ivanovic, made a strong statement urging his club to bring Modric to Stamford Bridge.

Guti himself has been linked with a summer move to the Premier League, with West Ham reportedly monitoring the midfielder’s situation. Guti earned his reputation at Real Madrid after playing well over 500 games for the club in all competitions. He left Madrid – after spending his whole career at the club starting in their C team in 1994 – for Beskitas in 2010 where he has featured 23 times, scoring 7 goals.
